Our stories
We are a community of survivors, families, patients, friends, nurses, doctors, scientists, professionals, supporters and volunteers.
Below is a collection of stories from cancer patients, survivors, loved ones, Irish Cancer Society staff, volunteers, researchers and many other types of people who together make up our organisation. Be inspired and know that you are not alone in your journey.
Gerry's Story - "Prostate cancer doesn’t have to have a bad outcome, if you get it in time."
Maggie's Story - "Cancer isn’t them, it’s just a condition they have and they’re the same person."
Phelim's Story - "The enormity of it all just overcame me like a hurricane, and I bawled my head off."
James' story - “I would like to say to others going through something similar, you aren’t alone."
The Irish Cancer Society launches the most colourful fundraising event - Colour Dash 2024
Sharing your story can help to raise cancer awareness, inform people about our services, appeal for volunteers, and bring reassurance to cancer patients and their loved ones.
We are always looking for people to share their stories in order to raise awareness about cancer – from how to spot its symptoms early, how to treat it, living beyond cancer, or how to prevent it completely.
If you would like to share your story with us, learn more about what’s involved.
