Good luck to those running the Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon for the Irish Cancer Society

By choosing to participate in the Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon for the Irish Cancer Society you are giving cancer a run for its money

The Irish Cancer Society wants to wish the women taking on the Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday 30th September the best of luck as they get fit and give cancer a run for its money. If any more women want to support the Irish Cancer Society it’s not too late to raise funds to provide care and support to people living with cancer in Tipperary. Cliona Hegarty, National Campaigns Manager, Irish Cancer Society said “Taking on the mini marathon is a great challenge and not only is it a fun day out – improving your fitness will  also reduce your risk of getting cancer. We need women in Tipperary to participate in the mini marathon in support of the Irish Cancer Society so we can continue to provide our information and support services in Tipperary.” Most recent data from the National Cancer Registry shows that 934 people were diagnosed with cancer in Tipperary in 2009. Cancer will affect one in three people during the course of their lifetime. However more people are surviving cancer because people are being diagnosed at an earlier stage and treatments are advancing through research. To choose the Irish Cancer Society as your charity, CallSave 1850 60 60 60, visit www.cancer.ie/munster-mini-marathons or email fundraising@irishcancer.ie
