Proceeds from Tom O'Brien's single are being donated to the Irish Cancer Society
Tom O Brien, (58) from Longford who is a retired postman and entertainer was diagnosed with liver cancer.
The fun song, ‘Whatcha gonna do when you leave School’, features Tom O’Brien and was written by his good friend of 42 years Éamon Ó Ceallaigh. Four decades ago, when Tom and Éamon were in their late teens, Éamon says he wrote a song with Tom in mind and about six months ago, a suggestion was made that the song should be recorded.
Tom said, “I want to thank my wife Kathleen and three children Daire (20), Niamh (15) and Diarmuid (12) who have been a huge support to me since I was diagnosed.”
The song has already gone to number one in the Irish iTunes chart and both men are hoping to keep it in the top position for another while.
The song can be downloaded on iTunes here.
And the men have already raised more than €40,000 on their GoFundMe page.
All proceeds from the single are generously being donated to the Irish Cancer Society to help support cancer services for people across Ireland.
