Team Irish Cancer Society took on 10KM for vital cancer services and research at VHI Mini Marathon

The Irish Cancer Society had over 2,000 women walking, jogging and running in the VHI Mini Marathon which took place Yesterday.  Women from all over Ireland have joined Team Irish Cancer Society to raise vital funds for the Society’s free, nationwide cancer services and cancer research.  The event saw over 40,000 women in total take on the 10 kilometre route across Dublin City. Team Irish Cancer Society participants had been training for several weeks to support the 30,000 people who are diagnosed with cancer in Ireland each year.  One of the many services which the team will be raising funds for tomorrow is the Society’s National Cancer Helpline. Staffed by specialist cancer nurses, the Helpline answers calls from cancer patients who are looking for information and support, family members of those diagnosed, members of the public concerned about cancer as well as those bereaved by cancer. The Irish Cancer Society hosted a gathering to thank all of its team at the Stephen’s Green Food Village. Located on the first floor of the Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, St. Stephen’s Green Food Village will offer great food and a superb view of fellow team mates coming across the finish line. The Society’s Get Active programme which includes Mini-Marathons, also includes other events which may be of interest to other adventure seekers including Treks, Fun Runs, Marathons and Adventure Runs.
