Young Dublin man's "A Christmas Rhyme" set to take YouTube by storm this festive season

Meet Pádraig Irwin.

He’s 22, he’s from Dublin and he’s a talented musician and singer-songwriter.

He also spent six weeks in hospital in late 2012.

He had previously been in hospital for a couple of weeks, having initially been treated for pneumonia.

But Pádraig’s situation didn’t improve and before long his worst fears were realised.

“It just kept getting worse so I was brought back in for more tests,” he says. “They found a carcinoid tumour in my right lung and I had to have a major operation. I spent eight hours in surgery and had to have most of my lung removed.

“I spent about six weeks in hospital in total. I got home about a week before Christmas but safe to say it wasn’t the best time!”

Pádraig made a full recovery this year and to celebrate his recovery and to help raise awareness of cancer in young people, he set about recording a Christmas song and producing a video of all things Christmas around Dublin.

The music was composed and produced by 6am Sparrows, made up of Pádraig and his good friend Eoin McGowan, while Florian Reider from Tyrol in Austria played the trumpets.

You can donate by visiting Pádraig’s MyCharity page. And here’s the song and video. Enjoy.
