The impact of your donation
Cancer doesn’t stop and neither will we
Throughout the pandemic, the Irish Cancer Society has continued to provide vital services and support to people affected by cancer, to ensure nobody has to go through cancer alone.
Because of the additional anxieties a cancer diagnosis during Covid brings, cancer patients need your support more than ever before.
How your generosity supported cancer patients and their families in 2020:
- We introduced a Remote Counselling service, to ensure cancer patients and their families have access to the care they need.
- We developed a Covid & Cancer information hub on our website, with regular updates for people cocooning.
- We provided 7,662 Nights of Night Nursing, to allow patients at end of life to spend their final days surrounded by their loved ones.
- We continued being the voice of the cancer community, to ensure cancer didn’t become ‘the forgotten C’ during Covid-19.
- Our Volunteer Driver service continued throughout lockdowns, ensuring cancer patients could get to their chemotherapy appointments safely.
Please donate today to ensure we can continue to be there for every cancer patient that needs us during this worrying time.
We are working hard to ensure we can meet these demands and the changing needs of cancer patients and their families at this worrying time.
- Tailored advice on coping with Covid-19 for cancer patients and survivors has been developed.
- Remote counselling sessions for cancer patients that are unable to access face-to-face services has been introduced.
Your donation today will help ensure people with cancer have access to crucial supports at this difficult time including advice and support, free counselling and transport to and from chemotherapy.
Our fundraising activities have been greatly curtailed due to the coronavirus with all of our major events cancelled and our charity shops closed.
Please donate today to ensure we can continue to be there for every cancer patient that needs us during this worrying time.
Together we can be there for cancer patients when they need us most. These services simply would not exist without the generosity of the Irish public. Thank you for the difference you are making to someone’s life today 💛
Your donations are providing invaluable services like these:
Our Support Line is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm for advice on any cancer related issue, including concerns about coronavirus, advice on financial or employment matters or to arrange free cancer counselling.
We have introduced a remote counselling model to ensure cancer patients can access free cancer counselling at a time when face-to-face services are not possible.
The Irish Cancer Society is a key resource for clear, understandable and reliable information related to cancer. During coronavirus we have ensure people have access to the information they need.
Our volunteer drivers bring patients to and from chemotherapy appointments nationwide. With the current public health emergency this service is more valuable than ever for patients.
Our Night Nurses provide end of life care at home for cancer patients. Demand for the service has increased in recent weeks and we are recruiting more nurses to help provide this care.
Your donations make a big difference to the lives of people with cancer. Your support means we can provide the type of help people need – whether that is counselling hours, transport to and from chemotherapy, a listening ear or to fulfil a person’s wish to die at home.
Without your help our services simply would not exist.
