the Common Cold need advice
Hi Girls
Due to go out tonight and am so looking forard to it its my only Christmas Night out and even bought a shocking pink wig for the craic!
Think is I am sniffling and nose is blocked and eyes running a bit like the start of a common cold.
Any of you caught a cold during chemo that went horribly wrong I know the answer I suppose myself - but should I not go?
AAAAAQHHHHHHHHHHH
I feel grand just the sniffles - I cant do things in half measures was looking forwars to a few scoops too (not as many as usual so say 6 instead of 10
Next chemo is Thursday so flying at the moment.......should I be sensible for once in my life?
Hi Deefed
How are you now? If you didn't get a temp, you prob only have a cold.
I got a rotten cold on the morning of my 7th chemo. I was in the shower in the morning trying to clear my head and my nose was dripping as fast as the shower. I felt totally crap and was sure I wouldn't get the chemo that day. But they just asked me if I had a temp and since I didn't, they went ahead.
Of course, taking a few paracetamol is the usual thing for a cold but we are not supposed to take paracetamol on chemo in case it masks a high temp. The nurse told me that day that I could take paracetamol just once as long as I checked to make sure I didn't have a high temp first. Here's hoping you are out enjoying some Christmas cheer!
Hate to put a damper on things but I got a cold during chemo that went horribly wrong. My conjunctivitis was so bad my two eye were bright red they kept my in hosp for 5 days. It spread everywhere, eyes, ears, nose, throat, miserable! I was so careful after that!
But you can't live life in a shoe box, don't sit near anyone else who shows any sign of sickness!! Enjoy if you do go out.
Hope you enjoyed if you went out

Dying to hear how the Christmas nights out went??? I'm afraid to say it but I'm doing ok this time although Sunday is my 'bad day' but did I say my angel, Janice reduced my taxotere by 20% this time so it may not be as bad. Has anyone else had their taxotere reduced near the end?
HI Girls
Well went to docs she said all was clear and said jokingly so I can go out for a Christmas Night Out - she said why not if you feel like it go for it you have to have a life as well.
Needless to say thats all I needed so went out had an absolutel blast of a night ate, drank, was merry, sang, danced and laughed - boy was I paying for it yesterday...... was very good only a few "light" drinks at the start of the night but a few normal ones towards the end.
Ah was defo worth it everyone was saying how well I looked which is great when you dont feel so good. I brought two extra wigs with me a pink one and a long brown one we had great craic with them!!
Happy Christmas All lets keep kicking!!
Oh brilliant I'm so delighted you had a blast. I'm enduring my bad day today but so far it hasn't been as bad as the last one (20% reduction may be working) but won't breath a sigh of relief until tomorrow. Awful taste in my mouth but nausea not too bad. I'm going out for a meal with my church folk group next Friday looking forward to that. Bring on Christmas and keep on kicking xxxxx
Thats great your not feeling bad Mary. Just dont even think about it treat it like any other day and enjoy not feeling too bad. The taste in the mouth is awful isnt it... I find those days I eat loads as I eat dinner and cos I cant taste it want more food. Hope you have a great night next week. That 20% less obviously is doing you good I have heard of other peopel they lower the dose so thats always a good sign.
In a healthy persons world I'm feeling crappy but in chemo land I'm grateful not to be as bad as the last time. No my husband says that not to think about it. Sunday nights usually the worst so hopefully not tonight. My husband had gone to my mam and dads for dinner and my mam is coming back with him to stay tonight and spoil me tomorrow which is nice. I've just had a cup of Bovril for lunch. No deefed can't eat when I can't taste it turns my stomach can't even look at hubbie eating his dinner. I have some nice homemade leek and potatoe soup for dinner which ill have with crackers and cheese.cant bear the texture of bread in my mouth. Had a bit if an 'episode' with constipation yesterday but hats sorted I think. Oh God I can't wait to say goodbye to all this in January Ill be the happiest woman alive, but neadie I'm getting through it don't despair just having a moan.
Looking forward to going out with the gang on Friday. Oh I'm so delighted she lowered the dose as it does seem so far to be more bearable . Will be able to tell later and tomorrow
Xxxx
God, moan away Mary!
You're nearly there.....!!
Well I'm sitting here still generally feeling ok compared to the last time. Looked back in my diary and last time I was really bad at this particular stage in the day so I'm hoping against hope that I'm going to get through this day ok. Going to get to bed early and hopefully it will have passed in the morning and I'll be coming down the otherside of the hill. Sunday usually my worst day so fingers crossed.
Oh you poor thing , no I just go all guns blazing and get the vomiting bug. Is your temperature ok? I'd be inclined to say go, go for a while even see how you get on. Then I'm a party animal. When is your next chemo?
