Curly hair wig- where to get?

where do you live?if dublin have you tried roches in sundrive i found them to be great and seemed to have every style?

I'm in Offaly but I did go into roches. I've even given them a difficult job. They have ordered something but I haven't seen it yet. The day i called in they had it in long blond curls, I looked like mick Wallace!

Hope u get sorted with a curly wig, I got my wig from the Pink ribbon / Reputations in Cabinteely Dublin they wre just incredible and it gave me such confidence to have a brilliant wig while going through chemo. Just as an aside..........you mentioned constipation in chemo I suffered terribly with the same and they finally changed my anti sickness intravenous drugs to a tablet form called Emend.........it did the trick... my last four chemo's didn't gum me up half as much, might be worth asking about. good luck with your treatments, take one step at a time and u will soon step off the roller coaster.

Just a quick question - I'm due my second round of 6 TCH this Friday. How soon should my hair start to disappear ? What were your experiences?

I am also in Offaly with curly hair (well I did have ). I ended up getting a wavy wig because the curly one are very difficult to keep especially if you wear them regularly. I got it in reflections cabinteely also and I found them lovely.

Re the Emend, yes had that this time. I think the trouble started with the zofran. So I took senokot, sorted the problem and then guess what, went the other way! Doing ok now, I'm only on motilium.

Re hair loss after TCH, think others have said about 3 weeks. I'm on AC and I think it's less than 2 weeks for hair to go. I'm only on day 7 after first one. My hair is a big curly mess and I don't think i am losing more than normal yet. I had nightmares all night about it falling out.

Re wigs, thanks for the info. That's interesting about the curly wig needing care. Generally I wash my hair, put in the anti frizz and out the door. Can't see myself getting into hair care now. Did anyone go for a totally different wig?

I am out the other end of chemo, thanks be to God and now on my last does of Herceptin. I got my wig from Jennifer Foley in Clontarf. She is brilliant and so kind and thoughtful. I had very long straight auburn hair and she did her best to match me up with a fantastic wig. It wasnt exactly the same colour as mine but it was human hair and could be dyed. She cut my hair into a bob initially and then when I started chemo she cut it a little shorter again. It was around day 22-23 when my hair started to fall out. I used to put a hair net on in the house as my hair was falling out into my cornflakes in the morning!. One piece of advice I would give is to get yourself a silk pillow case as believe it or not your head actually hurts when your hair is falling out as the follicles are all confused. I found that using the silk pillow case and the hair net really helped. I also got a little hat for night time as I found my head getting very cold.Also rub some olive oil into your head to keep your scalp from getting dry. When I finally removed the wig because my own hair was growing back , I went to Hairspray and got a lovely longish bob wig for special occassions. I found the girls in the one in Wicklow street to be great and the wig was not that expensive.
With regard to the pooh issues, I too went through the constipation period but found that using some Duphalac really helped and didnt send me the other way! While I am on a role here, if you are on TCH, your nails will suffer something awful so I put Sally Hanson miracle cure on my nails every second day and it protected them. Taxotere can turn your nails black if you dont look after them. I did lose my 2 big toe nails only quite recently but there was a healthy nail under both of them. I think thats all the advice I have for the moment but if you have any more questions/ fears about chemo just shout, I am more than happy to help out.
