From someone who has come through mastectomy, chemo and reconstruction in the last 10 months, I'd just like to say thank you very much to all the women who took part in the Dip in the Nip last weekend.
You've raised much needed funds and increased awareness of the services provided by Action Breast Cancer.
If it happens again next year I might even be brave enough myself to bare all!
hi there SLR!
Hope you are feeling well, was delighted to read your message. I heard about the 'dip in the nip' on our local radio station, Highland Radio and was instantly smitten. My Mum is a survivor of breast cancer, had her mastectomy over 24yrs ago and has just celebrated her 80th Birthday on June 5th! Sadly I lost my darlin' partner Drew to widespread cancer in 2001, when our wee boy Andrew was just 14months old. I always felt guilty about not being 'fit' enough to take part in marathons etc., so the 'dip in the nip' was perfect for me. But the best thing about taking part was the feeling of true friendship and togetherness that was so tangible on the day. It was truly uplifting, and everyone there had their own reasons for taking part, though the overall feeling was joyful, rather than sadness. I am already looking forward to attending next year, and would absolutely recommend it! I was nervous, I went on my own, but everyone was so upbeat, it proved to be one of the best experiences of my life. And I also found this website as a consequence of the day, so I've counted that as another blessing.
Take care, and best wishes to you, rosie x
