honest advice
hi heading towards my 3rd of 6 f.e.c chemo. managing ok. usual side effects no hair, wierd head and funny tummy. my daughter due date falls on the day of my 5th chemo. she lives 4 hours away and both of us are anxious that i be there if i can. dont think that i would be able to drive myself but will get there some how if only to hold her hand.b she knows no one where she lives in the countyrside. i have asked several people.... do the side effects get worse as the chemo goes on? most say yes especially the tiredness. my nurse also implied this. i know everyones different but whats your experrience? i dont want to make false promises and will need to arrange for some one else to be there. getting excited about being 1st time granny. thanks

Its very hard to say if you will feel worse as time goes on. Firstly, I've no experience of FEC and also, not everyone has the same chemo experience and side effects, even if they are on the same regime.
One thing I will say is that its unlikely your grandchild will actually arrive on their due date. It'll most likely be early or late so not on your actual chemo date. But do talk to your chemo team about the possibility of delaying your 5th session by a couple of days IF the baby arrives around the time. They are usually willing to accommodate a patient for stuff like this (my sis had her last one delayed by 2 days so she could enjoy a weeks holiday in Tenerife).
Also, please make sure to doublecheck if its ok that you be there for the birth. There may be an increased risk of infection to you OR a risk to your daughter and the baby (but I don't think I've ever heard of this). I'd just ask the question to be sure, to be sure!
Its a very exciting time. I think its lovely you have something so wonderful to look forward to during chemotherapy.

Whereabouts in the country is your daughter? I think you are in Clare (?) so is she somewhere near Dublin/East Coast?

thanks . my daughter is in wexford and only accessible by driving. will check with chemo team but even more dtermind to be there at some stage.even if only in the background.

There is a train goes from Limerick to Rosslare via Wexford town. My brother has a house in Duncannon and I've gotten off it in Waterford and Campile? and gotten a taxi to Duncannon. Mind you, doing all that after chemo might not be good for you. But I am due a visit to Limerick and to Duncannon in the coming wks so I may be able to tie in with you as a travelling companion. We can hold each other up!!

I had Taxotere and Cytoxan and had 4 of them. Symtoms for me were the same for each session.
