Lymphoedema symptoms

Last reply: 17 July 2012 09:38

Hi

Have pain and slight swelling in my hand starting between my thumb and index finger for a couple of days. Pain is now starting to travel up my arm now. I have not injured it in any way there is no cuts or anything on my arm. Am wondering is this sign of lymphoedema or am I just being paranoid.

Also planning on flying next week are there any precautions I should make for flight?

Would appreciate any advise.

Thanks

Madge x

Hi there,

Am afraid i don't know what sign or symptoms are for lymphodema but I would put a call into your breast cancer nurse before you travel. Via my bc nurse I was fitted with a compression sleeve which we are supposed to use for long flights ie anything over four hours tho the Physio advised wearing for all flights.

Good luck

Hi Girls,

cannot advise on symptoms but they now advise to wear sleeve for ALL flights. Have worn mine a couple of times with no issue but on my last trip which was only a two & a half hour flight my arm swelled up for a couple of hours after the flight, left the sleeve on for about 6 hrs post flight, swelling gradually went down over a couple of days.

Do go see your Breast Care nurse before flying, it's not worth the risk.
