Hi,
A query. Has anyone had major problems whilst taking Femara. I have been on it for 6 months and don,t know how I am going to cope for another 4 years. Joint pain, palpitations, high cholesterol have all happened to me since starting the treatment. I have been told to come off it now for two weeks and it is like going on holiday for my body. Is there anyone else out there experiencing the same problems? I would love to know.
Thank you.
Pippa

I'm on Tamoxifen so can't comment.
But I suggest you check out the American site http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/78
There are a lot of active members on it and hopefully you'll find some advice there.

Thank you for that info. I am hoping that there is an alternative treatment wich less severe side effects[quote="JudiG":3nm0aejd]I'm on Tamoxifen so can't comment.

Hi Pippa,

Femara is for post menopausal women. I am also post menopausal but am on Arimidex. I find it ok.

Have you spoken to your consultant about alternatives?

Flo.

I did some research and insisted from the get go that my pharmacy prescribe the original Femara, not a generic, as it is said to have less side effects. I also take a Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplement which has really helped with the awful joint pain. it takes 3 months to feel the effect of the G and S supplement but it is definitely helping. xx
