Last reply: 14 June 2012 17:39

Hi all
I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer following routine mammogram just turned forthy in December. I had macestomy and reconstruction in April and pathology report showed 5cm of dcis and 5mm of invasive grade 3 I am currently awaiting results of oncotype dx test and just wondering if anyone has experience of this test and score is considered ok to skip chemo.

Thank you so much
Molly

hi Molly, best of luck with your Oncotype results.... I'm due my results on Thursday Image removed. I'm telling myself all along that I'll have to have it, preparing myself I suppose???? If it comes to the 50/50 choice, I was the same.... When the choice is put into your hands it's a different ball game... I said it to my sister and she said 'of course, you have it'.... God forbid if you didn't and the cancer came back down the line you'd probably kick yourself for not taking the chemo in the first place.... I'll let you know how I get on xxxx

Hi taurustin
Thank you so much for the reply. I will also get my oncotype result this week , oncologist has told me that he thinks I won't need chemo also told this by the breast surgeon . However i don't want to skip chemo and then regret it down the line. Good luck with you test results

All the best
Molly

Well Molly, it was great news Image removed. Only a score of 8 in my Oncotype which means I have a 6% chance of it recurring in the next 5 years.... A relief to be told no chemo but would have went for it if it was 50/50.... Started my tamoxifen yesterday and had my mirena taken out on Tuesday.... Can't believe that my periods have started back already... But blood tests confirmed that I'm pre menopausal so I'll be starting Zoladex next week which will stop my ovaries from working.... Anyway, one day at a time and we'll keep battling xxxx
