New member saying hello
Hi everyone, I'm Aidan, I'm 51, single male, live in West Cork and have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer (dont ask me which one, I cant pronounce it let alone spell it, haha). I've just joined the site today and have been having a quick look around and whilst there are very good sections devoted to specifics, I'm somewhat surprised there is no "New member introduction" or "General Lounge/ General Chat" section,,,, unless I haven't found it yet. I'm specificly interested in finding out if there are any support groups in my area, particularly along the lines of something where there are regular get togethers with people who have cancer, or have lost someone from cancer etc, something where people can meet in person and get to know each other. If you know of any such groups I would be very interested in hearing about them, thanks and best wishes to you all,
Aidan.
Hi Adain, Maninblack (47yrs) here lost both parents to lung cancer in the last five years and i have a tumor in middle lobe of left lung myself, it was cancerous at the start then it wasn't and after the last scan it is after growing and they are concerened again about it, i thought that common sence they would take it out long ago, I just don't know is it that they are under staffed, no money or is it they just don't care about people anymore? there is three more in our circle of family has passed on with the damm thing since my parents died, I'm being sent to and fro from one to the other and i am sick of it all, i am getting a second oppinion in a couple of weeks, so pls God all will start rolling,
I'm frightened and fed up at this moment.
I hope all goes well for you, pls let me know how you are getting on.

Hi Aiden,
I am sorry to learn of your lung cancer diagnosis. It is a difficult time for you going through treatment. There isn’t a support group that I know of in Macroom butCork ARC Cancer Support House provides therapies and emotional support which may benefit you.
Their address is 5 O’Donovan Rossa Road. Cork, tel (021) 427 668 and website [url:1owgo3wv]http://www.Corkcancersupport.ie[/url:1owgo3wv]
There are other Support Groups around the Country and if you ring The Irish Cancer Society on our Freefone Cancer Helpline Mon – Thurs 9am – 7pm and Friday 9am -5pm our specialist nurses can speak to you in confidence and guide and support you further. The number is 1800 200 700.
We haven't been asked about a general chat section before, but we are planning some improvements to the message board and we will look at that idea, thanks.
I hope this has been of some help.
Kind regards,
Cancer Information Services Nurse
