2nd chemo-not so bad
Hi all
2 chemo yest and wasn't as bad.
Firstly I took 1/2 a sleeping tablet in the morning, then I managed a litre of water by the time it was time to go in and I wore extra clothes and had a fleece jacket wrapped around my arm to keep it warm. And hey presto, my veins showed themselves this time!!
The after effects ok so far. Did have some nausea but the new tablets seem to have held it at bay.
Also, I took sleeping tablet last night so slept through whatever going on
People who know me would be amazed I took sleeping tabs, I'm the healthy freak, when I'm anywhere new I do tours of health food shops, and won't even take a paracetamol for a headache. Well, I've decide now, it's time to fight fire with fire!
Good luck to all on chemo.
Josephine
Hi Josephine
I am glad to hear that your second chemo went ok. I too had the vein issue and used to stick my arm under a hot shower for ages before I went into the hospital and then I would get them to give me a heat pack in the hope that my veins would not play " hide and seek".
It is amazing how you get into a new routine when you are on chemo. I am laughing at you saying you never took tablets, I was the same and now I take whatever is on offer. I even have a secret stash of the " big gun" drugs , just in case!!!!
Mad really but whatever makes it easier!
Hope the nausea passes and you have a good weekend

Hi Josephine, I am really glad your second chemo went better How many will you be getting. I suppose it takes a while to sort out the mix of tablets for each person, as everyone is different. Well done . Will you also be having radiotherapy and hormone treatment too.
Take care G x
Hi girls
Thanks for replies. The rest of the day hasn't been too bad. Episodes of nausea but not too bad. Also noticed this time, prob too sick last time, that when I doze off I have the weirdest dreams, thought there were aliens inside my arms earlier! Must be what people were saying about the steroids.
I will be having 8 chemos, 4 xAC then 4xT. Then the radiotherapy and then tamoxifen. So I'll be asking questions on this board for a long time to come.
My hair is just starting to make a move, hairs getting into everything. And thanks for the warning re "down below", it's the first bit I noticed

Good woman Josephine. Whatever it takes .... beat it at its own game! Good luck and hope the next few days are bearable.
