Biopsy Result

Last reply: 23 May 2023 10:10

I was called today and asked to come in this Thursday to get my biopsy results. Does this mean it is more than likely bad news? Just wondering what common practice is. This waiting is so hard.

I am sorry to hear that you’ve recently had to have a Biopsy. Waiting for the Biopsy result is always such a difficult time.

It is not unusual for doctors to bring patients back to discuss biopsy results. This used to be the “norm” prior to covid and many doctors have resumed this practice. So don’t automatically assume that is bad news.

Being called in to the doctor is often an opportunity for the doctor to discuss the findings and recommend possible change in lifestyle that may benefit you – it doesn’t always mean that you have cancer.

If you are very nervous having someone with you can help for that extra reassurance and support.

If you would like to discuss anything  after your appointment, we are all nurses on this Support Line and we are here to listen, advise and support .I hope this is helpful. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions, on Freephone: 1 800 200 700, Monday to Friday, 9-5.

Did they suggest you should bring someone with you? That means it's bad news. If they just told you to come, there's a good chance it's not.
