Bone pain

Last reply: 18 September 2014 21:06

Hi, has anyone had awful bone pain after finishing chemo?? I was put on tamoxafin and femara and had to stop both as tamoxafin gave me a body rash and femara was unbearable due to joint pain. I now have been prescribed Aromasin but am holding off on taking it as my joints still ache a lot.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? I would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks

Hi spudburf,
i had chemo in 2012 and it was only about 3-4months after finishing that i started
having joint pain. I used to find the early morning was the worst. It came on very suddenly and stayed for about 6months i would say and then eased off and now i dont have it at all.
I was her2+,hormone negative, so wasnt on any treatment once i finished my Herceptin in May 2013
When i mentioned my pain to my Dr she seemed to blame the Taxotere in the chemo mix that i had. Anyway, hope this is some help to you and hope your pain eases off soon.
Best of luck.
Laura.

Thanks Laura. Its great to hear it will go. I'm due to finish herceptin by end of October and I had Taxol which is a cousin of Taxotere so your doc is probably correct!

Thanks again - its good to know I'm not imagining it! :-)

Hi spudburf
I also had unbearable joint pain on femara. I tried to manage it for 6 months but had to give it up. I'm back on tamoxifen now. The joint pain came on within a few weeks of starting femara. It has improved a lot since I stopped it (in May) but no way back to normal. I'm glad to hear it might go away altogether. My feet hurt a lot and that started after Taxol, before starting any of the hormone treatments so I'd say we're being hit from every angle!
