Breast cancer

Hi, I am just looking for some advice or experience
Diagnosed with Dcis back in September had surgery and radiotherapy treatment which I finished in January. Roll on to 14th March and I am still suffering really severe headaches. Have had scans & bloods, all clear but the ponding in my head is on going. Also my breast that I had treatment on is still very very tender/painful. Is this still normal after 3months?
Any advice or other experiences much appreciated.
M

Hi M,

Thank you for posting.  I’m sorry to read that about your diagnosis and treatment for DCIS, it must have been very difficult for you dealing with this diagnosis and treatment and now with the severe headaches you are experiencing.  While it is reassuring that your scans and bloods are all clear, did your team give you an indication why you may be experiencing these headaches or suggest any treatment to help?  It may be worthwhile exploring this further with the team.  I have linked here some general information that may be helpful.

It would be common after radiotherapy to the breast to be experiencing pain and tenderness, this can last up to a year after treatment.  I have linked here information from our website, it may be worthwhile to speak with the nurse in the radiation centre for advice.  Please don’t hesitate to call our support line on 1800 200 700 to speak with a cancer nurse for any support or advice.  I hope this information is helpful.

Kind regards,

Cancer nurse.
