Final mamograms after threatment
Hello There I' m just finished my year long threatment for BC. I had a wide local incision of the breast with ancillary clearance at leval 1 and 2 in April 2013 . This was followed by more surgery to the breast to get clear margins. I subsequently had chemo and radiotheraphy and have started taking tamoxifin . My final mamagram is next week. Is it possible that after all that threatment I may have to have a masectomy?? I had no lump to start with only just the tissue was diseased I am scared of what they will find now.
That's true -but my bod is feeling so wiped out at this stage I' m wonder what is left!!! Still stunned by it all ,my life has been turned upside down but there is one thing certain it's all forward motion from here on out-this old wagon 'don't do reverse'! !! X
Hey Stargazer, you have every right to feel wiped out - I really don't know how I would have coped if I had needed chemo aswell (oncotype dx test came back with a very low score & so I was spared chemo) I genuinely feel that chemo has to be the worst part of the journey.. you agree? As you say we have to keep it in first gear and hope that all will go well
Good luck with the mammogram & do let us know how it all went.

Yes Resolute in many ways the chemo was the worst for me- it's kind of like bing on the 'hardshoulder'- the engien is running but your not getting too far! However , each journey is unique and weather your travelling the motorway or the secondary route, coming off the hard shoulder to rejoin ' the traffic '' can be equally challenging - if you get my drift. Hope the'NCT goes well for you too and we'll both be roadworthy soon x
Good morning Stargazer
I too am due my 'first' mammogram after treatment & like you I am so worried that something might show up that puts me back on the cancer 'treadmill' again... I guess we just have to go with it and try to have faith that all is well (easier said than done though )
