Juicing
I want to start juicing, starting chemo soon and feel the need to be as 'healthy' as I possibly can, already trying to do my 5 a day and cut out processed stuff. Anyone doing it, do I have to fork out for an expensive 'juicer' or can I just use an old blender?? What do people drink, fruits, veggies? All advice welcome please xx
Hi Kazoo,
I have too started looking at nutrition in a big way. I have started juicing in the past 7-10 days. I bought the Philips Juicer HR1953 for €50 (Sale Price). It is a centrifugal juicer and it was recommended as a starter juicer. My adviser felt that there was no point in spending a few hundred euro on a juicer that would end up in the back of a cupboard after a few weeks or months. The model I got is about 500W but you can also get higher wattages in Philips range too, but obviously more expensive. Also, some fruits are just not for juicing so you might need a blender as well.
For me, it is all about eating a balanced, nutritious diet and I have an appointment with a nutritional therapist to look at that whole area and am seriously thinking about studying nutritional therapy!
I received Bernadette Bohan's books and DVD today, really looking forward to reading/seeing them.
Hope that helps,
Micheline
Hi there Kazoo,
I would recommend you have a look at Bernadette Bohan's website. She is a two time cancer survivor who changed her diet and lifestyle completely to achieve optimum health. I couldn't do everything she has done but you can cherrypick what you can do from her tips. She is BIG into juicing and can tell you which veggies, etc are best for fighting cancer, etc.

I should check it out again too. I am not doing enough juicing at all anymore!
