Radiation therapy after lumpectomy
Hello everyone,
I am 6 weeks post op now and I was told that I will be contacted by the hospital for the radiation therapy and I am so worried because they never start my radiation yet.
I just want to ask for anyone who had undergone lunpectomy and radiation how many weeks you have waited before the radiation had started?
Thank you and God bless us all
Hi Valerie,
Thank you for answering my question.

Hi Fritche,
I just started radiotherapy and have 18 more sessions to go..so I'm not sure the outcome as yet.I will also be starting hormone therapy in between the sessions...I'm nervous about it all as I'm afraid of the side effects of hormone therapy especially but I'm trying to keep positive ..
We will all be better for it in the long term.
Hi, I am supporting my sister who had surgery and her radiotherapy didn't start for 12 weeks post-surgery. Look after yourself now as best you can with plenty of rest. Wishing you the very best for the future.
Hi I had surgery 12th July and I am only going in for my Ct planning scan this week, my radation was put off due to test results from an oncotype test been delayed constantly. If you ring radiology they might be able fo give you some idea of a start date.
Hi fritche
It was ,6 weeks after my lumpectomy when I started 21 rounds of radiation. I also had to take hormone therapy which effected my appetite for 3mths. It might be different for you but I lost 3 stone. Make sure you get as much rest as you can , radiation can take it out of you. Get a good moisturizer as you will get dry and itch. Drink lots of fluids too. You will come out the other end and all will be good. X
