Re-excision of margins- breast

Last reply: 16 December 2024 08:16

I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in late September.
I had a lumpectomy & sentinel node biopsy on 6 Nov. My lymphnodes were clear but the margins were not all 2mm so I had another surgery on 11 Dec. Has anyone else had this additional surgery, I'm finding recovery from this surgery a little frustrating due to the lack of movement I can have & not being able to drive again. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated x

I had 2nd surgery for re-excision on margins 2 weeks after my initial lumpectomy & node biopsy. Thankfully the 2nd surgery was a success & node was clear. I am now 10 days post 2nd surgery & barely have any pain at all. I'm starting taxol on 3rd Jan for 12 weeks along with herceptin & radiotherapy after that.

Hi Ainelena,
So glad to hear your 2nd surgery was a success, wishing you luck with everything that comes next x

Can I ask what restrictions you had after the second surgery, I was told it would be less recovery time but my cancer nurse told me it's the same restrictions?
