To lift or not to lift
Hi ladies
Am set for a bit of tidy up surgery next week.Am sick at thought of general again even though its only a day case!Surgery is on my new boob and to tidy up scar on tummy.Just wondering as i need to decide whether or not to get the other 'good' boob lifted to match.Im very undecided as its another surgery, more scars and recovery again, but mainly im afraid to mess about with it'if it isnt broke dont fix it'.I am so confused this just doesnt get any easier.
Anyone else had a lift done? How did it go?any advice appreciated.

Hi W,
I'm with Hugs, the whole hog, am going for Diep next week & fully intend to follow the whole thing true. How did you find the Deip? I can't wait for mine!!
hi Hugs and Funkychick
Thanks for replies.Yes i had diep done in may so am 5 months on more or less.I wont lie its not easy but definately worth it!!!Im delighted with results.Funkychick make sure you have button front pjs for after and get a size bigger. It just makes it easier to get about with drains and you wont be putting anything over your head for a bit.I also sent out for little vest tops as you will have a binder on tummy after for support which i found very irritating so used to put it on over vest. Please feel free tp pm me with any questions at all id be only too happy to help in any way.Where are you having it done? Are you in dublin?

I'm having mine done in the mater. I had an appointment in July with the plastic surgeons ( two that work together). I told them I would need to have it done next summer when the kids are off school as my DH isn't well and wouldn't manage everything while I'm in hosp, so at least if there's no school, there's less worry.
I can't wait! I'm losing some weight at the mo, trying to get healthier. I'll be a whole new woman when it's finished
Hi Hugs
You know you will!!!I do kind of feel that im reinventing myself at least im trying to look at it that way and see the positive side.I think i will do the lift aswell and then dye my now very short grey hair thats slowly coming back!!!I will be a totally new woman.I had my diep done in vincents. One thing to look out for you might bring it up before surgery is on the tummy scar i have 2 points that stick out(dogears i believe they are called).Im having them sorted on friday while hes doing a fat filler on my new boob, but this means tummy scar will now be bigger. Its common with diep when i looked it up so dont understand why they cant do the incision so this doesnt happen.Still its little to be complaining about in the grand scheme of things.I hope op comes round quick for you.

This is the type of recon I think I will be having either in 3 weeks time or next year (depending on my lymph results).
I have a lot of loose skin on my stomach from loosing a lot of weight some years ago, but what will your stomach look like at the end? I may be jumping the gun here, seeing as it may be next year, but would welcome some stories and experiences from those who have had the "tummy tuck" option- am scared witless.....
Still hasn't sunk in that I'm going under the knife.....
Thanks
N xx
Hi Girls, I, Like Neadi really interested in listening to your stores about "boob jobs". I am having chemo first then recon after mascetomy in around 6 months time.
Totally clueless - so do they take the fat from your tummy for your boob? Some people say they take it off your back (wouldnt have so much back fat to spare) but after three kids plenty on my tummy.
People mention a tummy tuck, getting the "good" one lifted along with the recon. Are all these things a sort of "given" as part of Breast Cancer. Do we have to pay for this (have no health insurance).
Thanks in advance and great to see so many happy with the "new you"
Dee
Hiya!
They sent me a recon book from vincents with the proceedures on it, but I met the plastic surgeon last week fir a consult. Sounds very Hollywood doesn't it???
Anyway, he asked me a few questions about my general health, then my bra size and then checked me out to see what could be done.
You can go for one of 3 options ( I think!!!!! Limited expertise!!)
You can use an implant option
You can use muscle and skin from your shoulder
Or muscle and skin from your stomach.
He reckons the belly is the one for me coz my shoulders are skinny and the implant wouldn't give a realistic result. The drawback is the operation / recovery time.
I just don't know what to expect.....
Hi Neadi
Fingers crossed for tomorrow for you.I was lucky to have no nodes positive so had chemo first then surgery.I am also in vincents which is where i had diep done.who did you get plastic surgeon? Please feel free tp ask any questions about surgery either here or pm me.
Dee im in vincents under public care and only cost so far was the 75 euro a night bed charge, although i have vhi so used that to cover it.I think if you have medical card its covered too,not sure though.any way i havent had to pay for anything so far thankfully.
Diep reconstruction is well worth it but it isnt easy.I have had another surgery since and will have more in feb probably.Thankfully all tidy ups.
Neadi good luck tomorrow, let us know how you get on.
XX hugs W
I'm not there yet, I'm hoping to have diep next year.
I want to go the whole hog....new boob, tummy tuck, and good boob lifted to match the new one.
Did you have the diep, how hard was recon?
