Weight gain on anastrozole

Hi I am on my 6th week of anastrazole and I’m gaining weight, have joint pain, pins and needles in fingers, very poor sleep, my Blood pressure has raised. I am wondering is it possible through dieting eg slimming world to lose weight when on an aromatase inhibitor? I just don’t feel like myself anymore and feel so much older.
Has anyone taking this or similar been able to shift the weight?

Thank you for posting to the Online Community. I do hope you get some responses to your query soon.
The side-effects you have mentioned can be very common when taking Anastrazole. They may settle as your body adapts and gets used to the new medication, however as you have mentioned raised blood pressure I would advise that you speak to your medical team and have this reviewed.
There are several supports that may help as you try to navigate these changes while on the hormone therapy. I have attached a link here to information on hormone therapy which includes a patient’s experience and advice on coping with side effects.
There are often group supports and complimentary therapies available in your local cancer support centre which can help, I have attached a link here to search for your local centre. Classes available include yoga and Pilates which may help with the joint pains, and mindfulness or relaxation can help with the poor sleep. We have an exercise programme running with Exwell Medical which may also help with joint pains and weight gain.
