Worried - Core Biopsy

Last reply: 07 August 2017 19:56

Hi, I found a lump in November, had a mammogram in December and had a return visit yesterday. Had another mammogram, an ultrasound and a core biopsy. I was told the person who performed the biopsy was very concerned and that he felt there was a cancer there. I will be returning for results on Monday next and meeting the consultant. Are they usually close to the mark when they mention cancer or is there a possibility that the results could come back as benign?? Many thanks for any replies. Mona

Dear Mona, We see you didn't get a reply to your question. You must have had a very anxious time Waiting for results, especially since you were told it may be malignant.Getting a pathologists report on a core biopsy is the only confirmation and so today being Monday must mean you are getting the pathologists results today. We sincerely wish you our very best today and even if the lump is benign you have been through a very anxious time and you might like to phone our Nurseline at 1800 200 700 to discuss. Kind regards Cancer Nurse

Thank you for your reply. I was diagnosed today with stage 2 grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma. Will know more about my treatment on Thursday, but I understand it will start very quickly. At least it is stage 2!
