Prostate Cancer and Pluvicto

Last reply: 18 October 2024 16:36

I am stage 4 with as my consultant has said, He has very aggressive rapidly castrate-resistant metastatic prostate cancer.
He has told me I will need Pluvicto now or in the very near future. We had applied to the Treatment Abroad Scheme as this treatment is not available yet in Ireland and were duly refused on the following grounds.
"The TAS does have the remit to fund drug therapies"
"The patient is attending as a private patient. The TAS covers public patients only"

The application was re-submitted and again declined and this time for different reasons. Any Ideas on what I should do next, Rgds Peter

Dear Peter

Thank you for posting on our online forum. I am very sorry to read about your diagnosis of stage 4 prostate cancer and your difficulty accessing the recommended treatment. It must be a very stressful time for you and your family.

Our advocacy team (advocacy@irishcancer.ie) might be able to provide some guidance with this issue. It might also be worthwhile to highlight this issue with the elected TDs in your area, as they might be able suggest what steps you can take.

Peter, please do phone our support line on 1800 200 700 if you would like to speak with a cancer nurse for support.

 Kind regards,

Cancer Nurse

Hi Peter, I heard your conversation on the radio recently talking about how you need Pluvicto and the cost of it. Would you set up a gofundme page? I and I'm sure many others would give money towards your urgent treatment. Regards, Fiona
