Hi

I am very sorry to read of the anxious time you are going through and we wish you the very best tomorrow. Your surgeon will remove the lump plus a margin around it and he will get confirmation from the pathologist that the margins are clear approx..7-10 days afterwards. They will have a multidisciplinary team meeting once they have these plus the lymph node biopsy result and decide a treatment plan which they will discuss with you. Your meeting with them to discuss this may not be for 3-4 weeks. This will be an extremely anxious time for you. Do not hesitate to phone our Nurseline at 1800 200 700 and we will endeavour to support you during this time and help you with questions to ask your team.

Kind regards

Hi Ladybird,

Just wanted to say that my experience was as the nurse said in that post - results came 2-3 weeks after surgery and I was referred for further treatment after results etc had been discussed by the multi-disciplinary team.

This is a very scary time: I had my surgery at the end of January and so I have an idea how you’re feeling tonight, before your surgery. I wish you luck and a speedy recovery - Emma
