In answer to your question many plastic surgeons do not specify the minimum BMI but do recommend that their patients BMI would fall within a healthy range and do advise some patients to lose weight prior to surgery. They do this knowing that patients with a higher BMI are at a slightly higher risk for complications than lighter patients.
