Autologus stem cell transplant

Last reply: 13 September 2022 09:52

I am day 90 post cell transplant. I have been very sore all over my body for about 2 months now. Doctors can't tell me why or if it'll get better over time. All my bloods are mostly back to normal so it's not related. Just wondering if anyone else is feeling the same post transplant?

I feel that my quality of life is quite poor at the moment and is getting me down! I am not too bad when I'm up doing things but muscles and joints get very sore & stiff when sitting/laying!

Thanks!

Dear AMCL

Thank you for posting your message on our online community. I am hoping that you will hear from others soon who have experienced similar achy feeling and can reassure you that it lessened with time.

Meanwhile would you find it helpful to phone our support line. We are all cancer nurses here at 1800 200 700. We would very much like to support you and we could make a few suggestions that you might find helpful.

For example we could refer you to our colleague who has special knowledge on exercise and diet after cancer treatment. We can also refer you to a counsellor as you mentioned you are feeling down.

Without being able to exercise and having constant aches, it is so understandable that you would feel down. It is good that your medical team have reassured you that your bloods etc are ok.

Life after cancer treatment can be challenging. We have a programme called Life and Cancer –Enhancing Survivorship(LACES) which is a workshop run by our specialist cancer nurses about the support available after treatment.

If you phone our support line we can discuss any of the above and would have other suggestions that may help. It would be good to hear from you, how you are.

Do take care
