My pharmacy says that the total cost of my medication is not covered under the Drugs Payment Scheme as I am having 2 cycles of chemo per month. Is this usual?
Under the Drugs Payment Scheme an individual or family will not pay more than €114 per calendar month for approved and prescribed drugs and medicines. If you do not have a medical card you will need to pay for the cost of prescribed medicines up to €114 per month. The amount of chemotherapy cycles per month will not impact this. I have attached information here from the citizens information service about the Drugs Payment Scheme.
It might be helpful to speak with your pharmacist again about this.
