Dear Deirdre

I am sorry you are having this side effect. Chemotherapy lowers your blood count including platelets. Platelets help the blood to clot and prevent bleeding and bruising. We would suggest you contact your oncology unit and tell them this is happening. They will check your blood count and advise you if platelet transfusion is necessary.

You can phone our Nurseline here at 1800 200 700 if we can be of any further help.

Kind regards
