Tamoxifen- Nausea & headace
Hi, I just started Tomoxifen a month ago. Side effects not too bad so far except for a bit of nausea in the mornings. Occasionally I have really sharp shooting pains in my head. Anyone else experience similar symptoms and any remedies that might have helped? Also, apart from grapefruit is there any other foods I should avoid while on this treatment?
Thank you 🙏🏻🥰
Thank you ICS nurse 😊
Hi Hope47
I'm on tamoxifen since June. My oncologist explained to me it's take 3 mths to settle into side effects. But the sweating at night and toilet runs werent helping with fatigue! He was able to prescribe meds to stop the sweating at night and relax bladder (oxybutynin hydrochloride). I Found huge improvement within 3/4 days after starting them. Maybe you've had a chat with your Dr by now. but if not hope this helps.
Ebony2021, Thank you for your message and glad you’re doing well. 😊
Hi Hope47
Thank you for posting on our online community. I hope you will hear from other ladies soon who have personal experience of taking Tamoxifen. For certain many would say that it takes time for their body to adjust. However if you find that the side effects you are experiencing are getting worse do contact your nurse specialist or doctor.
We could arrange for you to speak to a peer to peer volunteer who is on tamoxifen if you phone us on our support line at 1800 200 700. We are all cancer nurses & it might be helpful to talk about the side effects and how you are. Anti-oestrogen therapy such as tamoxifen, like many other medications can interact with other medicines and herbal products. We would suggest you tell your doctor or pharmacist about any medication you are on including vitamins, herbal supplements and over the counter remedies.
Kind regards
Cancer Nurse
