Waiting for histology report
I went for a colonoscopy and gastroscopy on 15th may. I was told just before the procedure taht my gp would be notified of results and no follow up consultation would be necessary. I sort of remember afterwards nurse saying they took some biopises which was routine. About 10 days later i got a letter for an appointment at the gastro clinic. I called up my doctor to see if he got my results. He said that my colonoscopy was clear but that there were biopsies from my gastroscopy being sent for further tests (histology). Its now 4 weeks since my procedure and i called my doctor and they still havent the report. My appointment at gastro clinic isnt till another 4 weeks. The waiting is driving me nuts. Is this normal? Is there anyway to get my results before my appointment?

Hi, I'm so glad I'm not the only one that's been waiting this long for results! I had a Gastroscopy & a Colonoscopy on the 27th of May, shortly after I remember waking up & being told everything looked fine but to be 100% certain some samples were taken. They said the results should return within 2 weeks. After 3 weeks I heard nothing back so I got in touch with my GP who told me my Gastroscopy results came back normal but that they're still waiting for results back from the Colonoscopy. I still havnt heard anything back & the wait is driving me mental! Could you keep me in loop when you do receive back results? Wishing you all the best!

I am sorry to read of the anxious time you are going through. As your GP is already aware of your situation maybe he could contact the gastro clinic but generally the consultant on the gastro team will want to discuss with you the results and any other follow up suggestions he may have.
