Waiting time for appointment
Hi found a lump on my breast and my doc referred me for an urgent mammogram 3 weeks ago but haven't heard anything yet. It's been the longest 3 weeks of my life it's all I think about day and night. Can anyone give me any idea of how long it usually takes?? I'm sure with covid and cyber attack that it has probably made waiting time longer, if I had some idea I might not feel so anxious ( probably wishful thinking)
Hi Daisy53
Thanks so much for your reply finally got through to Breast clinic in Mater hospital this morning and seemingly it's a 5 week wait from when they get your referral which must have been delayed due to cyber attack because they only received it 10 days after my doctor had seen me. Kinda kicking myself for putting it off for months as I actually thought I was imagining a lump, stress levels are in overdrive at the minute and I see every hour on the clock at night time, I'm sure you've been there yourself. So happy to hear you're in remission and doing well.
Best wishes

Hi AB1976
A urgent mammogram normally shouldn't take longer than two weeks so it may be that it is delayed by the cyber attack and Covid. Which hospital did your GP refer you too if you don't mind me asking? If you don't hear soon I would ring the hospital to see what the story is.
I know it's easy for me to say but try not too stress as it may not be cancer and even if it is Breast Cancer is very treatable these days. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last September and am coming towards the end of my treatment. I'm actually in remission at the moment so there is hope.
Best of luck with your mammogram when you get it and hopefully it will be good news. If you have any questions don't hesitate to message me on here, I'm here very day and I will answer them if I can.
Best wishes
