Care to Drive features on RTÉs News Two

Care to Drive is a scheme operated by the Irish Cancer Society to provide free transport for patients to and from their treatment. Carefully selected and trained volunteers collect the patients from their homes and drive them to their appointments and back to their homes following these appointments.

The piece which aired last night on RTÉs News Two, shows how Vivien from Dalkey, who was diagnosed with Lung Cancer last March, benefits from the Care To Drive Scheme.

Care To Drive is currently available in 5 hospitals;

  • St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin
  • Sligo General Hospital
  • Letterkenny, General Hospital
  • The Mater Dublin
  • St. James' Hospital, Dublin

Care To Drive will expand to 8 more hospitals this year.

We are currently appealing for Care To Drive Volunteers. Drivers are asked to do one trip a month between Monday to Friday. We are holding information evenings all this week for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer.
