‘Care to Drive’ transport project
Care to Drive is a scheme operated by the Irish Cancer Society to provide free transport for patients to and from their treatment. Carefully selected and trained volunteers collect the patients from their homes and drive them to their appointments and back to their homes following these appointments.

We are delighted to announce that we will soon be partnering with the Mid Western Regional Hospital, Limerick. We are currently seeking trustworthy, reliable volunteers who have free weekday time to provide cancer patients with safe, comfortable and confidential transport to and from their appointments. In particular, we are now seeking volunteers who can provide transport from the Limerick (city & county), Co. Clare & North Tipperary areas.
We are holding 3 information sessions for people interested in volunteering at 11.30am and 1.00pm in the following locations (please note some sates have changed):
- November 7th - Temple Gate Hotel, The Square, Ennis
- November 8th - Absolute Hotel, Limerick
- November 9th - The Great National Abbey Court Hotel, Dublin Road, Nenagh
- November 10th - Courtenay Lodge Hotel, Newcastle West

Development of Care to Drive Nationally
Care to Drive is a volunteer based transport service that recruits volunteers to transport patients to and from their hospital treatments. We are delighted to announce that Care to Drive is currently available in the following hospitals:
- St. Vincent's Hopital, Dublin
- Sligo General Hospital
- St. James' Hospital, Dublin
And Care to Drive will be available in the following hospitals shortly:
- Letterkenny General Hospital
- The Mater, Dublin
- Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe
- Mid Western Regional Hospital, Limerick
To be referred to the programme, a patient needs to contact the Social Worker in the partner hospitals (named above).

IBM gives Care to Drive a major grant
We are seeking trustworthy, reliable volunteers who have free weekday time to provide cancer patients with safe, comfortable and confidential transport to and from their appointments. In particular, we are now seeking volunteers who can provide transport between the Cavan, Monaghan, Meath, Louth and North Dublin areas and the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
-->We are holding 2 information sessions for people interested in volunteering at 11.30am and 1.00pm on Tuesday, July 19th in the the Pillar Room of the Mater Hospital, Dublin
