We have a dream line-up of hurlers and sports stars; it will definitely be the best game we have ever had. We are just really looking forward to Tuesday August 16 in St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge.”

Jump Jockey Davy Russell, said: “Both team sheets read like a roll of honour and it’s a fitting tribute to mark the 10th Hurling for Cancer Research match. I’m honoured that Brian Cody will grace the side-lines one final time to manage my team. It’s going to be a cracker of a game and no quarter will be given. It is a brilliant evening out for all the family for a very worthy cause, so I hope to see a huge crowd at St Conleth’s Park on Tuesday August 16.”

Irish Cancer Society Head of Fundraising Rosemary Simmons, said: “The Hurling for Cancer Research match has always been known for its star line-ups, but Jim and Davy have done an incredible job this year to amass such high-calibre teams given the championship’s early finish.

“We are expecting a really strong contest given the profile of those involved, and one which I’m sure hurling fans throughout the country will be excited to experience. It promises to be another memorable occasion in St Conleth’s Park on 16 August, all in aid of life-changing cancer research supported by the Irish Cancer Society.”
