Irish Cancer Society to host two Facebook Q&As this week

Following on from a series of successful live Facebook Q&A sessions over the past six months, the Irish Cancer Society will host two further Q&A sessions this week on the subjects of children’s nutrition and breast cancer respectively.

To mark Nourish Children Week, which is supported by the Irish Cancer Society and the Irish Heart Foundation, a live Q&A dedicated to children’s nutrition takes place this afternoon (Wednesday).

Two specialist nutritionists will be on hand between 2-4pm today to answer any questions you may have about nutrition and your child.

The inaugural Nourish Children Week was launched by the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI) on Monday.

Among the INDI’s findings are that 1 in 4 primary school children are deemed to be overweight or obese, so the focus of Wednesday’s Q&A will be on what support parents have to do to prevent overweight children becoming obese and treat children who are already obese.

Then, on Thursday, to mark the beginning of the 2013 Fashion Targets Breast Cancer at Brown Thomas and BT2, two specialist breast cancer nurses will be on hand to answer your questions or concerns about breast cancer.
