Irish Cancer Society visits Dundalk company Ovelle Pharmaceuticals to launch their partnership

Dundalk-based company Elave Skincare (manufactured by Ovelle Pharmaceuticals) has launched its partnership with the Irish Cancer Society’s Survivorship Programme for a second year. The launch, which took place at Ovelle’s headquarters on Coes Road in Dundalk this week, was hosted by special guest and local Dundalk girl Dearbhla Lennon.

The Irish Cancer Society’s partnership with Elave means that from 1st May to the end of June 2013, €1 from every Elave Shower Gel 250ml, Shampoo 250ml and Intensive Cream 125g sold will go to the Society’s Survivorship Programme. The Survivorship Programme provides practical and emotional one-to-one support for those newly diagnosed with cancer by people who have undergone cancer treatment themselves.

Since the programme started in 1979, it has helped thousands of newly diagnosed cancer patients. Being diagnosed with cancer can sometimes be a lonely and frightening experience. All of the Society’s survivorship volunteers have had a cancer diagnosis and know what this news can mean. A one to one conversation with someone who has gone through it can make a huge difference at a very difficult time. All of the volunteers are carefully selected and trained to give support, practical information and reassurance to those newly diagnosed with cancer.

“We’re delighted to have Elave on board again this year for the Survivorship Programme,” said Emma Barrett, Corporate Partnership Manager with the Irish Cancer Society. “One of our key goals for 2013, as we celebrate our 50th birthday, is to grow our Survivorship Programme. Making this type of support available has proven to make such a difference to people who have just been diagnosed and the partnership with Elave helps us raise awareness about the programme and also contributes to the much-needed funds which allow us to keep it up and running” she said.

The makers of Elave, Ovelle Pharmaceuticals based in Dundalk, Co. Louth have been manufacturing sensitive skincare solutions in Ireland since 1934. Elave is committed to providing skincare products that are free from harsh chemicals that are linked to flare up in sensitive skin. Our skincare ranges have a strong export presence and in 2012 we have opened up new markets in the US, Europe and China.

“We’re really happy to be on board with the Irish Cancer Society’s Survivorship Programme again this year” said Joanna Gardiner, Elave’s Managing Director. “It was a great success last year as the partnership makes sense to people and the Survivorship Programme provides targeted specialised support to the people going through this difficult and challenging time. As people go through treatments for Cancer their skin can become very dry and sensitive and through this initiative Elave can help raise much needed funds & also raise awareness that Elave is safe to use on your skin while going through Cancer treatments. ” she said.

Elave Shower Gel 250ml, Shampoo 250ml and Intensive Cream 125g will be available in all major pharmacy outlets including major chains such as Boots, Doc Morris, McCabe’s, Sam McCauley’s and Bradleys from May. The Elave Shower Gel 250ml is priced at €7.10, the Elave Shampoo 250ml at €7.10 and the Elave Intensive Cream 125g at €8.49.
