Join the Irish Cancer Society’s Dublin Mini Marathon Team

Today the Irish Cancer Society has launched its mini marathon appeal to women across Ireland, asking them to join team Irish Cancer Society for the Flora Women's Mini Marathon and help fund vital local and national services.

One such local service is counselling. The Society funds over €200,000 worth of counselling each year through cancer support centres around the country. The Society funds counselling in local cancer support centres so that people who need to can access support in their locality. Speaking about their concerns with a stranger can allow someone, who wouldn’t offload on friends or family, to talk freely about their fears. Talking to someone in this way can reduce some of the stress and worry that surrounds a cancer diagnosis – helping someone focus on getting better or supporting their loved one.

Speaking of the Dublin mini marathon appeal, Irish Cancer Society CEO John McCormack said, “Seeing women come together each year to fight back against cancer is wonderful. I want to thank all those who have supported us in the past and raised money to help fund our vital services. I hope we will have continued support this year and that more women than ever will join team Irish Cancer Society. For the last 50 years fundraisers like this have made our work possible. This continued support is essential to ensure that those with and affected by cancer in Ireland have the support they need.”

Over 26,000 people in Ireland will be diagnosed with cancer this year. The Irish Cancer Society is Ireland’s national cancer charity.  Funds raised for the Irish Cancer Society will:
