Irish Cancer Society appeals for more volunteers for Get the Girls Day next week

More volunteers needed for the first ever Get the Girls Day

The Irish Cancer Society is appealing for more volunteers in several parts of Ireland to get involved in the first ever Get the Girls Day next Friday, October 5th.

Friday 5th October marks the Irish Cancer Society’s first ever Get the Girls Day (part of the Get the Girls campaign) kindly supported by Centra, and we are appealing particularly for volunteers in: 

  • Mayo
  • Clare
  • Laois
  • Wicklow
  • Kilkenny
  • Westmeath
  • Offaly
  • Kildare
  • Tipperary
  • Limerick City

 Get the Girls Day will see volunteers in shopping centres, businesses, and on streets around the country selling pink ribbons to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society’s breast cancer services and research projects. The Irish Cancer Society is appealing for more people to sign up and volunteer, especially people in the following locations; Mayo, Clare & Limerick City  To volunteer register on www.getthegirls.iehttp://www.getthegirls.ie under Get the Girls Selling or call our fundraising team on CallSave 1850 60 60 60. Speaking about Get the Girls Day, Stephanie Casey, Community Fundraising Manager, Irish Cancer Society said, “Most people in Ireland know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. It is a disease that touches every family, with seven women every day being diagnosed with the disease. We want to encourage everyone to do something to raise money for breast cancer services and research so that future breast cancer patients will have the best possible support and outcomes. You can be part of supporting the thousands of women diagnosed with breast cancer each year by volunteering for Get the Girls Day this October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So volunteer and you will make a difference.”  Get the Girls Day is part of the Get the Girls campaign. Get the Girls is a fun way for women to get together and raise money for breast cancer services and research. There are many ways to take part.
