Movember’s got a new MOVE!

Movember brought back the moustache and now they are bringing ‘MOVE’, a 30-day fitness challenge, to raise funds and awareness for men’s health. MOVE is a global initiative being rolled out for the first time this year across 21 countries worldwide.

As part of the Irish MOVEment, comedian, Andrew Stanley, TV and radio presenter, Ray D’Arcy, model and food blogger, Rozanna Purcell, and Irish Olympian, Rob Heffernan, will pave the way for the Irish people to take a stand and increase awareness for men’s health, by getting active throughout the month of MOVEmber. The four MOVE Ambassadors will lead the charge by each taking on their own individual challenge. The nation can follow their efforts on Twitter @MovemberIreland throughout the month.

Mo Bros and Mo Sistas of Ireland are invited to register to MOVE on Movember.com and commit to 30 MOVEs in 30 days. How they MOVE is up to them, but it needs to be a minimum of 20 minutes of moderate exercise per day, for the full 30 days. Whether it’s a gym class, a hula-hooping session, an hour-long brisk walk, or a long distance cycle, no MOVE is too big or too small. Of course, Movember will always be about the moustache, and MoBros cross-country are still invited to grow to raise funds, however, this new initiative means there’s more than one way to get involved.

Rozanna Purcell, foodie, Mo Sista and MOVE Ambassador, said: “Irish women may not be able to grow a mo but this year we can MOVE! I am very health conscious when it comes to my diet and lifestyle and I’m hoping to encourage others to make a conscious effort when it comes to their health and mental well-being. Make sure to track my progress on twitter over the month or even match my MOVE using #MOVEWithRoz.”

“It’s great to be part of such a positive Movember initiative that focuses on men’s health in its entirety, from mental to physical, and just how important being active is to both,” said Ray D’Arcy, media personality, Mo Bro and MOVE Ambassador. “I’m pretty active already but I'm looking forward to a new challenge and making a small contribution towards men's health. Set your own challenge on Movember.com if you don’t want to match my MOVE!” continued Ray.

MOVE is directly linked to Movember's vision of having an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health. A world where men live happier, healthier and longer lives, starts with simply moving. The moustache starts a conversation about men's health and MOVE puts our vision into immediate action.

Adam Garone, CEO of Movember, said: “We all know that exercise is good for us, but MOVE isn’t just about fitness. It’s about shaking up the routine. Trying something new. Moving in unusual ways. Challenging yourself. Getting your friends on board. Doing something good for you and men’s health.”

Movember is inviting the nation to join the MOVEment and become a champion of men’s health with the 2015 MOVE Ambassadors. Everyone is encouraged to walk the walk, talk the talk, run the run or swim the swim for Movember. Fundraisers can keep up to date and join in the conversation at #MOVEforMovember and follow the MOVE plan of your choice at #MOVEwithRob, #MOVEwithRoz, #MOVEwithRay or #MOVEwithAndrew.
