Put some colour into your life and help run all over cancer!

Today the Irish Cancer Society, with campaign sponsor Crown Paints and media partner Spin 103.8, launched their new fundraising campaign – the Colour Dash. The vibrant 5k fun run will take place on Saturday, July 27th in Phoenix Park. This event will be the only powder paint run in Ireland with 100% of money raised going to a charity.

Colour dashers of all shapes, sizes and speeds will start the run wearing a white t-shirt that is transformed, like a canvas into a colourful work of art. At each kilometre, a different colour – representing a different cancer - of powder paint will cover participants, creating a kaleidoscope of colour. This unique event is more about having fun with your family and friends than speed. At the finish line the party really starts and the air is filled with music and the entertainment begins.

Money raised from the Colour Dash will go towards the Irish Cancer Society’s work to help people reduce their risk of getting cancer, to support those living with cancer and supporting on-going research into better ways to diagnose and treat cancer.

“The Colour Dash is a chance for people to get together and have fun,” said John McCormack, Chief Executive Officer, Irish Cancer Society. “It's encourages people to get out and get active – improving fitness and living a healthy lifestyle, but it's also about sharing that experience with friends, and doing it in solidarity with those you love, who have been affected by cancer. We are excited to bring this powder paint run to Ireland and hope to see thousands of people join us and the Crown family in July in Phoenix Park.”

Kevin Whelan, Marketing Controller, Crown Paints Ireland Limited, said, “It was clear from the beginning that the Colour Dash was an excellent event. It is something that our staff and their families can do and really have a fun day out, raising money for a very worthy cause – that personally affects us all. We are proud to sponsor the Colour Dash.”

The five kilometres of the Colour Dash are: 1km: Green - representing bowel cancer, 2km: Blue - representing prostate cancer, 3km: Yellow – representing lung cancer, 4km: Purple – representing cancer survivorship, 5km: Pink – representing breast cancer.
