One in three of us will develop cancer in our lifetime and this year alone it is estimated that 30,000 people will develop cancer. We rely on public goodwill and support to continue to provide our free nationwide patient care services including our cancer research. Last year we committed €3.1 million for new research projects and with your help we can fund even more.” Speaking at the launch Siobhan O’Connor said, “I’m delighted to be part of the Irish Cancer Society’s Trek4Life team to Jordan and to challenge myself for cancer research in Ireland.” The Irish Cancer Society is the largest voluntary body funding cancer research in Ireland Since 1963 the Society has contributed more than €26 million to cancer research. Over the past 30 years, research funded by the Society has led to major advances in cancer research and more than 650 important research findings have been discovered.  Currently, the Society is supporting 33 researchers as they investigate a number of potentially important discoveries in all types of cancer including breast, colorectal, ovarian, leukaemia, oesophageal, lung, prostate and metastatic cancers.   Click to get involved with the Trek4Life Team to Jordan
