X-HALE Youth Awards 2012 - the ballot box is now open!

The X-HALE awards have come around again and 14 videos produced by youth clubs all over Ireland have been shortlisted for the showcase event at the Light House Cinema in Smithfield next Tuesday (October 30th).

Ireland has a high lung cancer rate and a high rate of smoking among young people, something the Irish Cancer Society's X-HALE programme is trying to change. X-HALE aims to reduce the number of young people smoking by discouraging some from starting in the first place and encouraging others to quit. X-HALE provides grants to youth groups and organisations to tackle the problem of smoking in communities. The grants are used to develop smoking-related community awareness projects through positive youth-led activities, and the X-HALE awards promote a positive and smoke-free culture for young people, empowering them to take ownership of their own health and make a commitment to smoke-free lifestyles. The 14 fantastic videos produced by young people all over Ireland will be showcased at a premiere screening at the Light House Cinema in Dublin on Tuesday, October 30th - and members of the public will decide the winning film by casting their vote! To view the 14 films and vote for your favourite, visit our online X-HALE poll here. If you'd like to attend the premiere at the Light House Cinema fill out the form over here - we hope to see you on the day!
