Make a difference with the Irish Cancer Society during National Giving Week

As the One Percent Difference campaign launches National Giving Week from November 11th to 17th, the Irish Cancer Society asks you to donate 1% of your time or money to the national cancer care charity.

One Percent Difference is a campaign that Philanthropy Ireland believes will inspire the nation. It is a straightforward, democratic concept that will encourage people to give 1%, whether it’s time or money, a simple idea that means it doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, everyone gives the same: 1%. Receiving less than 5% of income from government funding, the Irish Cancer Society rely on public support through donations and volunteering to deliver vital services. If everyone gave just one Percent either of their time or financially it would more than double current giving levels, meaning organisations like the Irish Cancer Society will get the help we need.

Cancer is a growing concern in Ireland, 1 in 3 people will develop cancer during their lifetime. Latest data shows that 33,741 people were diagnosed with cancer in Ireland in 2010 and this year we expect that there will be up to 35,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed across the country. The support of the public means the Irish Cancer Society can support daily the thousands of people who are concerned about cancer.

Money and time donated by our generous donors goes towards providing cancer information and support services to thousands affected by cancer across Ireland each year.
