Exhausted after radiotherapy

Last reply: 18 November 2012 22:01

I had 25 rounds of radiotherapy, finished it on Oct. 1st. I am still completely wiped out after it. Is this normal? I have energy in the morning but then all of a sudden my energy just goes, as if I've just run out of power. A lie down for half an hour recharges me. I go for a walk most days, eat well and get plenty of sleep. When am I going to feel normal again?

Hi Fighter;
Hope radiotherapy treated you well, apart from the fatigue?

I finished my radiotherapy end of November 2011 (nearly this time last year), and have been on Herceptin since.

I started feeling almost normal around April/May but have gone back to work more or less full time since June. I don't know whether it's "after-shock" of treatment, going back to work or time of year, or maybe combination of all three, but I find I am nearly as tired these last few weeks as I have ever been. And getting aches and pains, dizzy, stupid (as in temporarily losing concentration and forgetting things), I'm putting it down to pre-mature old age!!!

I find my slump kicks in about 4.30 in the evening but once I get half an hours doze, I can get up and finish the jobs around the house. Maybe I'm just a lazy auld lump?!?!

Hi
I finished 33 rounds of radiotherapy in February and have been feeling so drained I do have bursts of energy not very often. I feel Si much better after reading your posts I don't feel such a lazy lump. I find I bring my youngest to bed at night and am ready for bed myself!
I think our bodies have taken such a battering that we need to take it slow and steady. I went back to work in September and children back to school and that has zapped any energy I had.
Thanks for reminding me its normal Image removed.
