Would anyone know of a Surgeon that does an Endoscopic Latissimus Dorsi Flap operation in Dublin?

Thanks

Hi,

I met a lady in the Mater who had hers done by Mr. Maurice Stokes. You could also ask your Breast Care Nurse to schedule you an appointment with the Plastic Surgery department in the Mater and they would go through options with you. http://www.mater.ie/depts/surgery/plastic.htm

Let me know how you get on.
Hugs,

Flo.

Thanks for your reply. I met with a plastic surgeon from the Mater yesterday but they don't do Endoscopic surgery.

Anyone else know of anyone in Dublin? Thank you.

I want to have the DIEP done when my time comes for reconstruction. My breastcare nurse did tell me the name of the plastic surgeon who does it. I can't remember his name, but I'll give her a buzz and try to find out. I'm at least a year away from that, and need to lose a few stone first....lol

Hugs,

I heard a Dr. Dylan Murray does the DIEP.

Summer73,
can you educate us, what is the difference between lat flap and an endoscopic one?

Thanks,

Flo.

Hi Flo,

I read it in "The Breast Reconstruction Guidebook" by Kathy Steligo. There is a paragraph in it at the Lat Dorsi section that says:

"If you're considering latissimus dorsi reconstruction, its worth finding an endoscopic surgeon - the reconstruction is done entirely through the mastectomy insicision or a small incision under the arm".

I'm meeting with a Plastic Surgeon tomorrow and intend taking the book with me to ask them about it.

So there are no scars on the back? Very good. Although, it might be something only done by plastics in the US at the moment. But hopefully your next appointment will be more helpful.

Let us know how you get on.
Hugs,
Flo.
