Parodit tumor
Hi
I'm new here. Really not sure if I should be here or not as I haven't been diagnosed. I found a painless pea size lump behind my ear 3 years ago. Dr said it was nothing to worry about. So I forgot about it. Around May this year the lump started to get bigger . Had an ultrasound which was inconclusive. Then sent for MRI. Met with a doctor and turned out that he thinks it's a benign tumor of the parodit gland. He referred me for a biopsy and the hospital refused to do this so he referred me to another hospital and had my appointment Monday and this doctor said he would not perform the biopsy because it is very close to the facial nerve. He said he would look at my MRI and see from there. I have heard nothing yet and I'm very worried as my neck has become quiet painful. Any advice would be appreciated. As you can imagine I'm worried as to what this actually is and the waiting times is going on a long time now even though I am going private.
Good news . Got FNA done yesterday. They also FNA a lymph node on my neck which has me a bit worried but the wait begins now for the results and it's great to have the biopsy done and dusted 👍
Hi bananas1,
Thank you for sharing your story on our online community. I’m sorry to read about your situation, it must be a very stressful time for you. It is reassuring that your doctor thinks the tumour is benign, however it is still very common to feel anxious and distressed while waiting for tests and results. I hope that things have progressed since you have posted here, if not we would recommend discussing the situation with your doctor.
Kind regards,
Cancer nurse
