Feedback on DIEP FLAP RECONSTRUCTION

Last reply: 28 February 2012 10:53

This is my 1st time to post but just wondering if anyone out there has had a DIEP FLAP reconstruction I am planning mine for April/May time and am excited but a bit scared too......I had a masectomy a year ago and that went as smoothly as these things can go.... 6 cycles of TC chemo and 25 sessions of Rad Therapy..I am fit and well and found during that journey that there were more good days than bad.........this is the final part of the process for me.....there was no cancer in any of my lymph nodes....I was stage 2 with lobular cancer..... thanks for any feedback Image removed.

Dear Positive Girl,

It is good to know that your treatment went well and that your experience was a positive one with more good than bad days.

The Irish Cancer Society runs a programme called Survivors Supporting Survivors. This is a one-to-one support programme and in your case it could be with a lady who has had a similar reconstructive surgery.

If you would like to speak to one of these ladies we can arrange that if you phone our National Cancer Helpline at 1800 200 700 (Mon-Thurs 9-7, Fridays 9-5).

There is another thread on this message board that may be of interest to you also: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=669

Wishing you the very best,
Cancer Information Services Nurse
